The surgeons of National Hand Specialists at Union Memorial Hospital are among the most experienced in the country in the care of the hand and wrist in hockey players. That is why they are included in the roster of elite specialty practices chosen by the National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA) for the expert care of their athletes. The NHLPA has been proactive and successful in developing a roster of consultants, under the direction of Toronto-based physician Dr. John Rizos, to act as second opinion resources for players.

In addition, our physicians are honored to be on the medical team of the Philadelphia Flyers (NHL) and Philadelphia Phantoms (AHL); two of our great regional sports franchises with rich histories of athletic accomplishment and superior community service.

Our success returning the elite hockey player to participation is accessible to athletes at all levels. Adult weekend league players get the same level of expert care as the NHL's MVP.

Acute injuries and overuse disorders are treated with equal facility. Specialized rehabilitation protocols have been developed to help players at all level to get back in the game.
