3. Philosophy on Teaching
Teaching and learning are dynamic and reciprocal activities. The best way that I know of is to keep abreast of advances in knowledge and technique in medicine is to teach. I wish I knew the Latin phrase was for “To teach is to learn”.
4. What it means to you to work at the National Hand Center An environment which stresses excellence, fosters innovation and encourages us to accept challenges.
5. What Contributions you have made to the Specialty
Multiple articles on hand injuries in sports and in general tried to integrate the intricacies and fine tolerances of hand surgery with the pragmatism of sports medicine.
6. Interests outside of Medicine
Biking, tennis, lacrosse, photography and history.
7. Dedication to the patient's experience at the Hand Center
I believe the patient is best served if he understands as much as possible about his/hers problem and enters into the decision making.
8. Comments about our colleagues/what it is like to work in a large single specialty practice
The most attractive aspect of the hand center practice is that no matter what problem I see, my patient and I have the ability to consult with someone whose knowledge and skill regarding that prolem is cuttin edge and state of the art.
9. Where you see the future of hand surgery going
Continued diversity and expansion of knowledge.
10. Why it's important to seek the skills and experience of a Hand Surgeon for your (patient's) problem...why it is important to select our Center
Medical knowledge has progressed in a geometric and experimental factor. The specialty of hand surgery came into being to accommodate knowledge and skills that burst the boundaries of orthopaedic, plastic and neurosurgery. Newer knowledge and techniques have expanded hand surgery to a multi-specialty level. I'm not sure any other hand surgery practice covers all the aspects of hand surgery as well. Breadth and depth we also stay current by being involved in teaching, conferences and research.
